Giecz Renovation Project 2009–2010
The Giecz Archaeological Complex had hosted the International Field School in Mortuary Archaeology since the year 2000. The project, however, was suspended in 2009 when Giecz received a big restructuring grant from the European Union. The site was supervised by the First Piasts Museum at Lednica which managed the grant funds.
The Giecz stronghold’s interior and its surroundings underwent extensive construction including alteration of the museum space and building new warehouses and visitor facilities including the interpretive centre.
New infrastructural developments at the Giecz Museum represent substantial improvement of these heritage resources which have undoubtedly changed and enhanced the public perception of the Giecz Archaeological Complex. Below, you can find a gallery of pictures from the renovation work and the Museum facilities today.
